2-Day Comprehensive First Aid Course
Updated: May 19, 2025
Over the weekend, I completed a two-day comprehensive first aid course. It was hands-on, practical, and honestly more intense than I expected. Sure, we covered CPR, choking, burns, and fractures, but what really stayed with me were the skills that go beyond first aid itself.
I learned how to stay calm under pressure when things feel chaotic. The course put us in realistic scenarios where slowing down, assessing the scene, and making clear decisions became second nature. I also realised how important it is to communicate clearly. In an emergency, someone taking charge, giving direct instructions, and keeping people focused makes a massive difference.
What surprised me most was how much of it applies outside emergencies. The way you manage information overload, lead in uncertain situations, and act decisively are skills that show up in everyday work and life.
I hope I never have to use the first aid skills. But the confidence, decision-making, and leadership practice? Those are already proving useful
