Contributed to the innovation Complex at Massey University Albany as part of a team at Athfield Architects, focusing on the development of deflection head details for internal walls. This solution addressed seismic performance while meeting stringent acoustic and specification requirements for a highly technical education facility designed to support research, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning.
Part of my Master’s thesis, this project explores timber-framed, foundation-free construction inspired by Rumah Aceh. Merging vernacular seismic design from Indonesia with NZS3604 standards, it reimagines post-quake housing solutions for Christchurch’s Red Zone—offering a code-compliant, resilient, and culturally adapted architecture for displaced communities.
